Barbara Ackles has had diverse roles during the past three years. She was an anchor, in Overdose: Death of a Punk Rocker Dr. Gridgar in “Never Quit”, Dr. Michael’s in “The Sauce” and a Hospital Receptionist in “Sorrow.” Her branding is toward strong female roles. Barbara has recently been cast in "Generally Stupid Villians," a soap opera comedy parody web series. Her role as Director of Operations for The Organization; a very powerful woman set on capturing all the villains. Previous to these feature roles she had done three movie shorts, Power Trip, Snack Away and Bus Stop. Her lead theater roles include Truvy in Steel Magnolias, Sugar Lee in Hallelujah Girls and Honey Raye in Southern Hospitality. In addition, she has delighted audiences with her tribute performances as Bette Midler. Barbara attended acting classes with Suzanne Savoy, Sara Gaston which included Monologues, Intensive Film, Overcoming Obstacles in Film and Cold Reading, teleprompter with Elise Lester, Acting and Modeling with Mayo Hill in Houston, Voice Over with Jim Conlan. Barbara has a professional voice over work station to record and edit with royalty free music and sound effects.
Barbara Ackles resides in Friendswood, TX and was born in Iowa. Barbara started out acting in several lead roles in school plays. She has lived in Oklahoma, Florida and Texas where she studied Communications and Psychology and has a B.S. and M.A. in Psychology. She was nominated for Who’s Who at UHCL. Barbara has worked as a Dee-jay, UTMB research associate and as a NASA subcontractor. Her pro bono work included the Sentinels of Freedom and Wounded Warriors as their MC. She is 5’6” with blonde hair. Barbara has been married 26 years and has four children and two grandchildren. Her hobbies include cooking and painting with acrylics.
