Harrison Ford to Star in Series Adaptation of 'The Staircase' for Annapurna TV - thewrap

Harrison Ford is attached to executive produce and star in a series adaptation of “The Staircase” for Annapurna Television, a person with knowledge of the production told TheWrap.

The project is based on the 13-episode docuseries of the same name that covered the 2001 murder trial of American novelist Michael Peterson. The writer claimed that his wife died at their home after falling down the stairs, but a medical examiner determined that she had been bludgeoned to death, turning Peterson into a murder suspect.

Annapurna TV did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

The series is currently being shopped around to networks and streaming services, with Antonio Campos attached to write and executive produce and Annapurna Television attached to produce.

The original docuseries, directed by Jean-Xavier de Lestrade, was released in 2004 and updated with information in 2013 and again in 2018, when it was released as a Netflix documentary.

Ford is known for playing iconic roles in classic movies, like Han Solo in the “Star Wars” franchise and the lead in the “Indiana Jones” franchise. He’s recently starred in “Blade Runner 2049” opposite Ryan Gosling, as well as the voice of Rooster in “The Secret Life of Pets 2.” He also has an upcoming “Indiana Jones” project slated for 2021.

Variety was first to report the news.
