Veteran Exec Aaron Janus Joins Lionsgate Motion Picture Group as SVP of Production - thewrap

Aaron Janus has joined Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group as senior vice president of production, while the studio promoted Meredith Wieck to vice president of production, Erin Westerman, president of production, announced on Wednesday.

Janus has overseen and developed hits like “A Quiet Place” and “Deadpool.” He comes to Lionsgate from Platinum Dunes where he most recently served as head of development for filmmakers Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. Prior to joining Platinum Dunes, Janus served as the director of film production and development at Twentieth Century Fox where he also worked on films such as “The Wolverine” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” Prior to that, Janus served as vice president of development for Scott Rudin Productions.

Wieck has been with Lionsgate since 2015 and is currently overseeing projects like Jay Roach’s “Bombshell,” as well as Kristen Wiig’s “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar.” She was previously involved with the studio’s “Now You See Me” franchise.

Before coming to Lionsgate, Wieck began her career at MGM and then worked for Mary Parent at her Paramount-based production banner, Disruption Entertainment. Following that, she served as a story editor at the former Universal-based production banner K/O Paper Products. Both Janus and Wieck will now report to Westerman.

“Aaron is an exciting addition to our strong team,” Westerman said. “He is deeply respected by talent and his track record speaks to his extraordinary taste and his eye for special material. Over and over he has championed fresh voices and stories and, as a result, his career has been filled with movies that audiences love. I’ve admired him for a long time and am thrilled he chose to join the Lionsgate family.  Additionally, Meredith has been at the studio for 4 years and has consistently showcased strong leadership skills and excellent taste.  We’re delighted to recognize her hard work with this promotion.”
