'Bachelor' Alum Chris Soules Agrees to Two-Year Suspended Sentence for Fatal Car Crash - thewrap

“The Bachelor” alum Chris Soules has agreed to a two-year suspended sentence for fleeing the scene of a fatal car crash in 2017, according to NBC News.

The sentence comes nearly a year after Soules reached an agreement with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor. He had originally pleaded not guilty to a felony charge.

In addition to probation, Soules will also face a fine of less than $1,000 under the sentence.

Soules was arrested at his home in Iowa after a pickup truck he was driving rear-ended a John Deere tractor, killing 66-year-old Kenneth Eugene Mosher. Soules called 9-1-1 after the accident and remained on the scene with those emergency responders for several more minutes before returning to his home, according to arrest documents.

The Sheriff’s department later said that Soules bought alcohol at a convenience store prior to the crash, ABC News reported at the time and had “empty and partially consumed open” alcoholic beverages “located in and around his vehicle.”

However, Soules filed a motion asking to suppress any alcohol-related evidence in the case against him because he tested negative for drugs and alcohol.
