Ming-Na Wen Joins Cast of 'The Mandalorian' at Disney+ - thewrap

“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” star and bona fide Disney legend Ming-Na Wen has joined the cast of “The Mandalorian,” the company announced on Friday.

No details about Wen’s role in the series were revealed, but the actress joins a cast which includes Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi and Werner Herzog.

Disney chief Bob Iger made the announcement at the company’s biennial D23 convention in Anaheim during a panel honoring Disney’s most significant players. Wen, who voiced Mulan in the original 1998 animated feature, has also starred on ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” for the last six seasons.

Other honorees included “The Mandalorian” creator Jon Favreau, Wen’s “Mulan” collaborator Christina Aguilera, “Avengers” star Robert Downey Jr., “Star Wars” alum James Earl Jones, “High School Musical” director Kenny Ortega and “Hocus Pocus” star Bette Midler.

Set to debut on Disney+ upon the streaming service’s launch in November, “The Mandalorian” follows a Boba Fett-like bounty hunter (Pascal) in the time period between “Return of the Jedi” and “The Force Awakens.”
