“Ms. Racecar’s 5th-grade classroom is used to the BOGEYMAN drills. For as long as the 5th graders have been alive, Christmas Valley, Oregon has been preparing for the BOGEYMAN’s arrival. However, when the BOGEYMAN drill sirens begin to wail at the beginning of school, something feels different to Ms. Racecar’s students. Maybe it’s that Ms. Racecar is late to class (very, very late), or that it’s the hottest day of the year, or that the classroom hamster is on the ceiling. The children begin to wonder if this is a drill at all, or if the BOGEYMAN has finally arrived. Left to their own devices, the students become increasingly desperate, deranged, and dirty, as they try to stop the BOGEYMAN and reconcile with the potential end of their own adolescence.”
