Summary
Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrel) is a sensational NASCAR race car driver who dominates every race together with his childhood friend Cal Naughton Jr. (John C. Reilly) who always ends up at the # 2 position. When a French race car driver, Jean Girard (Sacha Baron Cohen), challenges him for the # 1 spot, he is put to test. After getting into an accident, Ricky becomes depressed and stops racing. He moves back with his mother and starts delivering pizza for a living.
In this scene Ricky is at a bar and meets his old assistant Susan (Amy Smart) by chance. They have a drink together and when Ricky tells her he doesn't want to race anymore, Susan gets angry and tells him he should start racing again, not for other people but for himself..."Ricky Booby is not a thinker, he is a driver. He is a doer!"

INT. BAR-NIGHT Susan sits at a table with Ricky. SUSAN: "....and so then I got a marketing job with NASCAR." RICKY: "Really?" SUSAN: "Yeah, it's great. It's great." RICKY: "Well, gosh, you look fantastic." SUSAN: "Thank you." RICKY: "I mean, you've always looked good. I mean, I'm just---I'm happy for you." SUSAN: "Thank you. But what about you? How have you been? What have you been doing?" RICKY: "Well, they want me to race at Talladega next weekend, but I'm not gonna do it. Because I'm done. I'm done with the racing, with driving." SUSAN: "Why would you do that?" RICKY: "Because I've really moved on. I've sent my application to The Real World....so I'm hoping to hear back from that. I'm putting a lot of my eggs into that basket, the MTV basket. I'm also thinking about getting a gun and dealing crack. Being a crack dealer, but not like a mean crack dealer, but like a...you know, like a nice one. Just kind of friendly, like "Hey, what's up guys? You want some crack?" I'm just waiting on those two things to kind of flesh themselves out." SUSAN: "You know Ricky, I have kept my mouth shut for a really, really long time." (End Excerpt) |
