Summary

The story starts in 1978 and presents several flashbacks that take place six years earlier at Mount Holyoke College, a college for women. A group of women who graduated from that college meet and share memories of their time in college, their hopes, frustrations, despairs and confusion.

On of the characters is Kate Quin, one of the best looking of the girls and one of the best students. Her future looks bright and she is headed for a successful career as a lawyer. Graduation is near and in this monologue she addresses, Carter, a brilliant freshman, and expresses her fears and self-doubt regarding the path that she has chosen.
