Description:
With the Sydney season of Love Never Dies due to commence in January 2012, the casting process for the role of Gustave and child supernumeraries is about to begin! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for a young performer looking to break into the professional musical theatre industry.
Sydney based boys are being sought for the role of Gustave – Christine Daaé’s young son in Love Never Dies. Boys who apply need to be 10 – 12 years old, be of small stature, and ideally have blonde coloured hair. They must have a strong treble ‘boyish’ voice that reaches up to a top F sharp in a classical style. They must have good performance instincts and a keen sense of pitch. Boys need to be available for Melbourne based rehearsals from mid-November to mid-December, and be available for Sydney rehearsals and the season to follow from early January 2012.
Love Never Dies also requires child supernumeraries to appear in some scenes of the show, each of whom will be required to perform at several performances each week at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney. Children being sought are a mixture of boys and girls aged 7-10 years of age and under the height of 135cm. There are no specific skill requirements although they will need to be able to follow basic stage and acting directions. Children will be required to commence rehearsals in Sydney early January and be available for the season to follow.
Resumes and photos (headshots and full length) should be emailed to info@reallyuseful.com.au prior to Monday 5 September. The resume should contain the child’s name, date of birth, height, suburb of residence, the parent’s names and contact details.
Breakdown:
Role Name | Gender | Ethnicity | Age Range | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Gustave | Male | Caucasian | 11-14 | Strong boyish voice up to a top F sharp. Strong treble voice in a classical style and also a strong character voice in a more chest / 'belt' style. Must have good instincts and a keen sense of pitch. In the style of a church choir sound. 10 - 12 years old. Small of stature (the shorter the better) Blonde hair would be good but not essential. The character is unusual, left of centre, ethereal, with an “other world” quality. (Think Tim Burton-esque type characters like you would see in “Alice In Wonderland” or “Charlie And The Chocolate Factory”). At your vocal audition you will be required to sing a song of your choice so please bring sheet music for the pianist. Please also bring a few other options to sing or your favourite song book.
