Jackalope Theatre is asking for submissions for understudies for the world premiere of LIFE ON PAPER by Kenneth Lin, Directed by Gus Menary.
After his proof for the Riemanm Hypothesis (one of the world's last great math puzzles) disastrously flames out, Mitch Bloom, a brilliant mathematician finds himself working as a consultant using complex algorithms to set the value of human lives in wrongful death cases. His knack for de-valuing lives has made him the darling of the insurance companies, but what will he do when the wrongful death of a billionaire philanthropist crosses his desk, and the future of a small town hangs in the balance?
Character Type/Restrictions:
MITCH BLOOM (30's), slight man of intellectual intensity.
IDA WATKINS (30's), sharp, small town girl, all grown up and taking the reins of the local savings and loan. *guaranteed performance date*
MICHAEL WATKINS (30's), Ida's husband. An artist. Tall and very handsome.
Pay: $150 stipend and $25 per show you go on.
Time Commitment:
Understudies agree to attend designer runs throughout the rehearsal process and be present for as many technical rehearsals as possible and to attend all scheduled costume fittings, photo calls, and other meetings necessary for the Play, as requested. In addition, you must attend three (3) Understudy Rehearsals with the Assistant Director and to participate in one (1) Understudy Performance for invited guests. The dates of the Understudy Rehearsals and Performance will be mutually agreed upon between the Understudy and Production Team. The Understudy agrees to be in Chicago and available for the entire term of the production.
Production Dates:
Tech: Sunday May 5th thru Saturday May 11th
Dress Rehearsal: Monday May 13th
Previews: Tuesday, May 14th thru Monday May 20th
Opening: Tuesday, May 21st
Closing: Saturday, June 22nd
Potential Extension: June 23rd thru June 29th
