Project Title | MOURNING CALL |
Description:
Adam and his mother were never close. But when Adam returns home after her death, it's especially jarring and uncomfortable. He puts her urn in the trunk before realizing that his mother should probably ride shotgun. Adam must clear out his mother's apartment before returning to his job. He sorts through her belongings--clothes, trash, messages. The only thing he finds, though, is that he has never wanted her nearer. MOURNING CALL is a tender, poignant and humorously offbeat story about granting ourselves the permission to grieve.
Breakdown:
Role Name | Gender | Ethnicity | Age Range | Description |

MOM | Female | Any | 30-40 | MOM is a tough, sometimes disdained woman with a tender heart. She's sick. She expresses her love to her son by giving him space, by not making herself an obligation to him. She's lonesome and struggles to find the words to request affection. |
YOUNG ADAM | Male | Any | 5-9 | Young Adam is a needy kid with a habit of vomiting. The puking freaks him out. |
