Seeking adult actors, any ethnicity, any gender identity to play adult and child roles in Cat and the Hat and Knuffle Bunny for our 2019-20 TYA Season.

Seeking:
Cat in the Hat: Non-Singing Roles, any ethnicity, any gender identity

Boy - kid with a sense of adventure, movement/circus skills a plus

Sally - kid with a sense of adventure, movement/circus skills a plus

Cat - mischief maker and entertainer. Resourceful. Captivating. Mischievous and daring. In constant pursuit of fun. Good movement/circus skills required. Skills may include balancing, juggling, acrobatic skills.

Fish - family fish and parental figure. A stickler for rules. Anxious and uptight. Basic puppetry experience encouraged

Thing 1 / Kitten 1 - High energy trouble maker who loves to create chaos and have non-stop mischievous fun. Wild and out of control. Good movement/circus skills required. Skills may include balancing, juggling, acrobatic skills.

Thing 2 / Kitten 2 - High energy trouble maker who loves to create chaos and have non-stop mischievous fun. Wild and out of control. Good movement/circus skills required. Skills may include balancing, juggling, acrobatic skills.

Knuffle Bunny - Singing Roles 3 principals / 3 chorus members

Trixie: (female identified) Toddler who really loves her stuffed bunny. Typically cheerful, exuberant kid who feels all things intensely. Strong vocals.

Dad (male identified) - blustery, but well-meaning new father with a heart of gold. In the end, despite his goofiness (perhaps because of it?), Dad is the hero of our story. Strong vocals.

Mom (female identified): No nonsense Mom. Slightly exasperated with her goofy husband-but much love. Strong vocals.

3 Ensemble members (any gender identity): Playing multiple roles including, but not limited to, clothes (i.e. a giant bra, giant shirt, necktie, etc.), Knuffle Bunnies (of multiple sizes), and Pigeon. Puppetry experience a plus. Must dance and carry a tune

Pay: $50 per performance/$11 per rehearsal hour

Auditions will be held at Northbrook Theatre 3323 Walters Ave Northbrook, IL 60062 Free parking in lot adjacent to building.

Material To Prepare:
For Cat in the Hat: 1 TYA monologue and be prepared to show a special skill (acrobatics, juggling, circus arts, etc). Performers auditioning only for FISH will not be required to show a special skill. For Knuffle Bunny: 1 TYA monologue and 32 bars of a musical theatre piece. Please bring your book. Bring headshot, resume, and any rehearsal/performance conflicts. Audition material must be appropriate for young audiences.

** Performers auditioning only for Cat and the Hat's character of FISH will not be required to show a special skill at auditions, though you may bring a hand puppet to the audition if you wish.
