Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in downtown Arlington Heights, IL announces general auditions for Anything Goes (Fall 2019), music and lyrics by Cole Porter, original book by Guy Bolton, P.G. Wodehouse, Howard Lindsay, and Russel Crouse, and new book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman.

Anything Goes will be directed by Robin Hughes, with choreography by Christie Kerr, and musical direction by Ken McMullen.

Seeking strong non-Equity adult actors/dancers/singers. Several roles require strong tap skills. Particularly seeking actors of diversity, who are strongly encouraged to audition. Gender-fluid casting available.

Anything Goes is a frolicking musical that follows the crazy antics and adventures of a shipload of passengers traveling from New York to London in 1934.

Reno Sweeney - Female-identifying, principal role, a sexy evangelist turned nightclub singer, mezzo-soprano.

Hope Harcourt - Female-identifying, principal role, a beautiful debutante, soprano.

Evangeline Harcourt - Female-identifying, supporting role, a widow who is Hope's mother.

Lord Evelyn Oakleigh - Male-identifying, principal role, a wealthy Englishman, baritone.

Elisha Whitney - Male-identifying, principal role, a goggle-eyed tycoon, baritone.

Billy Crocker - Male-identifying, principal role, Whitney's young assistant, tenor.

Moonface Martin - Male-identifying, principal role, a hapless gangster who is Public Enemy #13, tenor.

Erma Latour - Female-identifying, supporting role, a sexy gangster's moll, mezzo-soprano.

Reverend Henry T. Dobson - Male-identifying, featured role, minister who was a missionary to China, spoken role.

Luke - Male-identifying, featured role, a Chinese convert.

John - Male-identifying, featured role, a Chinese convert.

Purity (Angel #1) - Female-identifying, featured role, showgirl with Reno's act.

Chastity (Angel #2) - Female-identifying, featured role, showgirl with Reno's act.

Charity (Angel #3) - Female-identifying, featured role, showgirl with Reno's act.

Virtue (Angel #4) - Female-identifying, featured role, showgirl with Reno's act.

Ship's Captain - Male-identifying, supporting role, captain of the S.S. American, baritone.

Ship's Purser - Male-identifying, featured role, purser on the S.S. American.

Male Quartet - Male-identifying, supporting roles.

Assorted Company Roles - Supporting roles, Fred - a bartender, two reporters, a news photographer, two F.B.I. agents, an old lady in a wheelchair, various sailors/ship's crew and passengers of the S.S. American.

Time Commitment:
Rehearsals: Monday, July 29-Monday, September 9, 2019. Weekly rehearsals include 7:00pm-10:00pm Mondays-Fridays, 1:00pm-5:00pm Saturdays, and 6:00pm-10:00pm Sundays. There is at least one designated evening off each week, selected at the director's discretion.

Tech Week: Tuesday, September 10-Wednesday, September 18, 2019. Actors with tech week conflicts will not be under consideration. Schedule is as follows: Tuesday 9/10-Thursday 9/12, 6:00pm-11:00pm; Sunday 9/15, 12:00pm-11:00pm; Monday 9/16-Wednesday 9/18, 6:00pm-11:00pm; Thursday 9/19-Friday 9/20, 3:00pm-5:30pm TBA; there are no rehearsals Friday 9/13-Saturday 9/14.

Previews & Performances: Thursday, September 19-Saturday, November 2, 2019. Standard performance schedule includes 7:30pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays; 3:00pm matinees on Saturdays and Sundays.


Material To Prepare:
To be considered, please prepare 16-32 bars of a song in the style of the show. Also prepare one comedic monologue in the style of the show.

An accompanist will be provided, although acapella singing is welcome anytime. If you have been cast in a Metropolis musical during the 2018-19 season and are interested in consideration, please submit a current headshot and resume with your email expressing your interest. All others must audition and bring an updated headshot and resume. Dance calls will occur during designated callback days.
