ABOUT THE SHOW
From the Broadway Playbill: “Vanya and Sonia have never left the confines of their childhood home in Bucks County, PA, while their sister Masha has been gallivanting around the world as a successful actress. A surprise visit from Masha and her 20-something boy toy, Spike, throws the normally quiet household into utter upheaval as its residents and visitors get swept up in an intoxicating mixture of lust, rivalry, regret, and the sudden possibility of escape.”
Vanya - 50s, living in Bucks County. Resigned to his life, more or less, at least compared to Sonia (played on Broadway by David Hyde Pierce)
Sonia - his adopted sister, early 50s, living with him in Bucks County. Discontent, upset, regretful. (played on Broadway by Kristine Neilson)
Masha - his sister, 50s, glamorous and successful actress who goes gallivanting around the world (played on Broadway by Sigourney Weaver)
Spike - an aspiring actor, 29 or younger, sexy, self-absorbed, Masha’s new companion (played on Broadway by Billy Magnussen)
Nina - lovely, sincere would-be actress, early 20s, visiting her aunt and uncle next door, star-struck and energetic (played on Broadway by Genevieve Angelson)
Cassandra - cleaning lady and soothsayer, any age, any race (played on Broadway by Shalita Grant)
