Description:
Third Eye Theatre Ensemble announces auditions for Darkling by Stefan Weisman, directed by Susan Padveen. There is pay in the form of a stipend. Seeking 3 actors.
Darkling hauntingly evokes the emotions, terrors, and incalculable losses suffered during the period between the two World Wars and the Holocaust. Past and present blur as the story is told from the intimate outlook of a poet whose ordinary Polish-Jewish family is unexpectedly affected by extraordinary events of the Holocaust. Darkling combines opera, avant-garde theatre, vaudeville, and technology to create a captivating piece of theatre.
Third Eye Theatre Ensemble is dedicated to diverse hiring and casting methods. While we encourage anyone who has a cultural connection to this piece to audition, we welcome all individuals to audition.
While the actors will not be performing any music, some experience with music is certainly helpful, though not required. The actors' performances will be timed with the music. Auditions will take place in the Ravenswood/North Center neighborhood. Third Eye Theatre Ensemble presents new or seldom performed operatic works that inspire conversation while advocating for human rights and social justice.
