Description:
"The problem with Young People today is… they're too tall… they're tattooed freaks… they dress like morons… they mumble all the time… they have weirdo haircuts… they eat like pigs… they pee too much… they have ridiculous nicknames… they all swear like sailors… they pierce their damned faces… they're afraid to get dirty… they sleep all day… they have no ambition… they dance like idiots… they won't move out... and they want everything now!"
THOSE DAMN KIDS… GET OFF MY LAWN!
ASHFIELD YOUTH THEATRE has partnered with INNER WEST SKILLS CENTRE to create a new project called INTER-GEN: Exchanging stories across the generations.
Senior citizens are often defined by young people as old, boring and conservative. Young people are often defined by senior citizens as immature, reckless and selfish. INTER-GEN will create a new show about what we know (and what we don't know) about each other.
INTER-GEN is a unique story exchange project which investigates our relationship with the elderly. Young people will work with senior citizens in the community to create a fun and enlightening new show that tackles stereotypes and prejudiced on both sides of the generational divide.
Workshops are held at Bastable Hall (Bastable St, Croydon) each Thursday from 4pm-7pm starting September 16 along with school holiday intensives on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-4pm. Saturday afternoon workshops will commence in November with performances scheduled for December 9-11.
