Role:

Mrs. K is an elderly woman of western European decent. She lives by herself in a small suburban town. She whiles away her time reminiscing about her late husband and the children she taught long ago as a piano instructor. One day, she finds herself compelled to call her old students, but is it out of loneliness or some other, darker need?
This is the lead role for the Piano Teacher. We are looking for someone with strong skills and a solid background as an actor.
This will be the Australian premier of The Piano Teacher, a new play by Julia Cho. It will be performed as the third season of the new theatre company, Dinner With A View Inc, a theatre restaurant style showcase for actors and directors. Dinner with a View Inc is a newly created not for profit association aiming to present intimate, creative and eclectic dinner theatre evenings.
Dinner with a View endeavours to explore original approaches of theatre and audience in a friendly environment.
The role of Mrs K is a demanding one that requires an actor of high skill level and commitment. It would be an advantage if the actor can also play the piano, as there is a moment where Mrs K performs a short piece.
Audition will require a short theatre monologue and a reading.
