The City of Elgin is excited to announce that it will be partnering with Up and Coming Theatre Company to present the 2019 Elgin Summer Theater production of SEUSSICAL.
One of the most performed shows in America, Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once on This Island, Ragtime), have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination - Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. Seussical is fun for the whole family!
The Elgin production of Seussical is directed by Jess Fiene. Jess graduated from Columbia College Chicago. She currently works as director with Northbrook Park District. Jess was the assistant director for Up and Coming Theatre's 2018 summer production of School of Rock and now the City is happy to have Jess on board for the 2019 Elgin Summer Theatre musical.
Auditions are open to the public and will be held from 7 - 10 pm on May 14 & 15, 2019 at The Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way in Elgin. Callbacks will be by invitation only from 10 am - 2 pm on May 18. Auditions are open to those ages 9 and over.
