Corn Productions is holding general auditions for their summer main stage comedy, 'Bat-Hamlet', written by Jordan Pulliam and directed by Kallie Rolison.
'Bat-Hamlet' tells the story of Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' as if it existed in the DC comics universe. A Dark Knight emerges from betwixt the pages of Shakespeare to exact revenge on his murderous uncle, King Jester. The universes of Shakespeare and Batman collide as Songbird Boy, Lord Riddles, O-Feline, Bat-Hamlet-Girl and many others unfold this dastardly plot. This show includes extensive fight choreography, sword fighting, mild language, and adult themes.
Corn Productions is seeking actors of all ethnicities, orientations and types for the following roles (please note that some roles not listed are already cast, several roles will be double/triple cast, and no roles are gender exclusive):
Hamlet/Bat-Hamlet - The millionaire playboy prince of Gothic castle; 20s-30s, stage combat/sword/fight experience required
Horatio/Song Bird Boy - Loyal friend of Hamlet; 20s-30s, stage combat/fight experience required
King Jester - The maniacal and cruel king of Gothic castle; 20s-40s, stage combat/fight experience a plus
Ophelia/O-Feline - Lord Puffin's demure and unsuspecting daughter; 20s-30s, stage combat/fight experience required
Lord Riddles - An animated underlying of King Jester's; 20s-40s, stage combat/fight experience a plus
Laertes - The hot-blooded son of Lord Puffin; 20s-30s, stage combat/sword/fight experience necessary
Jape/Jingle/Jest - Lord Jester's Harlequin-esque hench(wo)men; 20s-30s, stage combat/fight experience necessary, acrobatics/special athletic or circus skills a plus
King Police Commissioner Gordrick's Ghost - The murdered king of Gothic castle; 30s-50s
Fortinbras - A frat-bro-like invader who shows up in the nick of time; 20s-30s
Guard - The goofball-ish watchman of the castle; 20-40s
Gravediggers 1 & 2 - Two gravediggers who aren't very bright; 20s-40s, absurd cockney accents a plus
Boss and Lefty - Two crooks, Boss is short and short-tempered, Lefty is big a dumb; 20s-40s
Barbara/Bat-Hamlet Girl & Lord Puffin - understudy roles needed for these two parts
Time Commitment:
Saturday, May 5 (4:30-6pm) - read-thru Sundays, May 6-27 (5pm-9pm) - rehearsals Mondays/Tuesdays/Wednesdays, May 7-30 (7pm-10pm) - rehearsals (rehearsals will be decided based on actor availability and actors won't be called to every rehearsal) Sunday, June 3 (10am-10pm) - tech Mon-Wed, June 4-6 (7pm-11pm) - dress Thursday, June 7 (7pm-11pm) - preview Friday, June 8 (7-10pm) - opening Thurs/Fri/Sat, through July 14 (7-10pm) - performances
Material To Prepare:
Please prepare a 1-minute Shakespearean monologue AND a 1-minute comedic monologue of your choosing. Please bring a copy of your headshot and resume. You will be asked to fill out an audition form where you can indicate any preferred roles, and you will also be asked to fill out a conflicts calendar.
