Description:

The Center for the Arts announces auditions for the summer production of FOOTLOOSE, going up at the Wallace Bowl in Wilmette's Gillson Park. Directed by Geoffrey Bleeker Mudd, with Music Direction by Michael McBride and Choreography by Jenilee Houghton.

Auditions are open to all adults and teens that will be entering into their freshman year in high school and up.

Reverend Shaw Moore: Male identified, age range 40s - early 50s, Baritone. Leader of his congregation as well as in the community, which he takes very seriously; passionate and charismatic, he is also the stern father of a teenage daughter.

Vi Moore: Female Identified, age range early to late 40s, Mezzo-Soprano. The stoic and reserved wife of the Reverend, she is a large part of his support system, but is not afraid to stand up to him when necessary.

Ariel Moore: Female identified; reads as 16 - 18, Mezzo-Soprano. A smart young woman who floats between her roles as the Reverend's daughter and the defiant, sassy and rebellious teenager seamlessly.

Ren McCormack: Male Identified, reads as 16 - 18, Tenor. A transplant from Chicago whose carefree and witty nature is quickly misinterpreted in his new home town of Bomont. Must be a strong singer / dancer.

Ethel McCormack: Female Identified, age range early to late 40's, Mezzo-Soprano; A strong single mother who has a good relationship with her teenage son.

Willard Hewitt: Male Identified, reads 16 - 18, Tenor. Misunderstood as a dumb jock who speaks through his fists, he becomes the best friend of Ren.

Rusty: Female Identified; reads between 16 - 18, Soprano. Ariel's outspoken and feisty best friend.

Chuck Cranston: Male identified, reads late teens, Tenor. Aggressive alpha male who enjoys being the preacher's daughter's dirty little secret

Wendy Jo and Urleen: Female Identified; read between 16 - 18, Mezzo-Soprano / Soprano, respectively. Friends of Ariel.

Additional roles and Ensemble: Teachers, townspeople and students of Bomont: strong singer/dancers of all ages, ethnicities and genders

General auditions are April 14th all day, callbacks April 16th and 17th in the evening.

Auditions will be held at 3000 Glenview Rd, Wilmette, IL 60091.

Time Commitment:
Rehearsals begin week of May 21st, weekday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Tentative rehearsal schedule available at auditions, there will be time off for holidays that occur during the rehearsal period.

Material To Prepare:
Please prepare 32 measures (or up to 30 seconds) of an up-tempo or pop song that best shows off your voice/range and be prepared to dance. If you wish to be considered for a principal role, please have a contrasting second song choice ready if asked.
