Description:
Inis Nua is producing the American Premiere of Untitled by Inua Ellams, directed by Jerrell L. Henderson. The show will run April 24-May 12, 2019. Rehearsals will be beginning in April, 2019.
Untitled tells the story of two wildly different Nigerian twin brothers, one named, one unnamed, separated at birth who reach out to each other across an ocean in order to unite their common destiny.
The play consists of a single performer onstage telling a story through two characters. Because the style of storytelling must be both epic and intimate, we are looking for a performer prepared to come to rehearsal everyday ready to be open and playful (i.e. Singing and movement work will be required in certain moments. If you are not specifically trained in these areas consider how you can bring the best of what you do have to offer to those moments).
2 Characters Played by 1 Actor:
X. Black. 25yo. A free spirit. A uniquely gifted spirit, X is brash and embraces his untamed nature. A mischievous thief, he is wise enough to learn from all around him in order to master any lesson to work his will. A true God of a man, he is driven by confidence and hunger. He will not be restrained. He will not be defined. A poetic soul.
Y. Black. 25yo. Restrained but not robotic, Y is bristling inside and out with a mind, body, and soul bubbling with awakening instincts. Open to the new discoveries taking place within him, he seeks balance in a world of chaos. He possesses a sensitive nature and a warrior spirit. A poetic soul.
