Synopsis: 16 Minutes is a short film that puts you in the passenger seat with Jasmine, a beautiful, young, black closeted woman. Jasmine relives the critical events in her life that led her to make the decision to commit suicide. Told in real time through powerful memories, the viewer is taken on an emotional journey of love, disappointment, betrayal and defeat as this young woman discovers love for the first time with another woman then has to contend with a stark Christian family who disowns her for her choice.

Character Breakdowns:
Jasmine – (African American, 18-25) – Attractive and petite. Jasmine is a closeted lesbian who comes from a strict religious family. She is a definitely a daddy’s girl and often denies her own dreams and desires in order to please her parents.

Gabriela – (Hispanic 18 – 25) Jasmine’s lover, Gabriela is a fiery Latina lesbian who is very confident with her sexuality. She says what’s on her mind and is fiercely protective of those she loves.

Jasmine’s Mother – (African American, mid 40’s) A sophisticated and conservative pastor’s wife, Jasmine’s mother is a true “first lady” of the church. She believes in upholding the sanctity of the church at all cost and subscribes to the tenet of love the sinner, hate the sin, unless of course that sinner is her daughter.

Jasmine’s Father – (African American, mid to late 40’s) Jasmine’s father is a dynamic preacher and motivational speaker behind the pulpit but quiet and introspective outside of it and a man who will do almost anything to see his daughter happy, except support her loving another woman.

Guy at Party – (18-25, any ethnicity) – Attractive, arrogant and aggressive jock who is not used to being told no.

Jared – (African American 25-30) – Jared is attractive, successful male and on the surface the “perfect” guy. Jasmine attempts to date him to appease her parents.
