Synopsis: After years of being a magician’s assistant, The Phenomenal Phoebe tries to prove she is an amazing magician as she performs on her own for the first time at a restaurant.
Character Breakdowns:
PHOEBE: 30s-50s, female, preferably Asian. Spent several years as a magician’s assistant. This is her first night as a magician. She is great at performing but is underappreciated.
HAROLD: 40s-50s, male. A goofy, oblivious father. Obsessed with magic.
ELAINE: 40s-50s, female. The mother, who is fed up with her husband’s obsession with magic.
BRYAN: 8-12, male. His family is celebrating his 8th birthday at this restaurant. A crybaby. He terrorizes the magician.
MATILDA: 10-13, female, preferably Asian. Quiet, weird, adopted, insecure about her brother being the miracle child.
OTHER IMPORTANT SPEAKING ROLES:
ELDERLY WOMAN: 70s-80s, female. She is hard of hearing and does not understand Phoebe's magic.
ELDERLY MAN: 70-80s, male. He speaks only few lines but important to the comedic element. He does not understand Phoebe's magic.
TEEN BOY: 13-15, male. Mocks magician.
TEENAGE BOYS: 13-15, male. Will need at least 5.
