Description:

The Shakespeare All-Stars announces auditions for its 2018 Summer Production, Romeo and Juliet directed by Sam Cheeseman.

The Shakespeare All-Stars is looking for eight actors to take on a 75 minute version of Shakespeare's most famous love story. We are looking for creative actors with experience in classical text, stage combat experience, and a willingness to play and explore. Music/Instrument experience is also a plus!

The Shakespeare All-Stars plan to take this show on an education tour in the Fall to Chicago schools and schools in the surrounding suburbs. While this audition is specifically for the Summer Run, those cast in the Summer Run will have the option to keep their roles and continue into the Fall Tour, if they so choose.

Note: You do not have to be cast in the Summer Run to be in the Fall Tour and vice versa.

Compensation:
Summer Run-Actors will receive a donation/tip share after every performance.

Fall Tour-Actors will be paid $30-$50 per school performance.

Auditions will be held at Shakespeare All-Stars Office 4809 N Ravenswood Ave Chicago, IL, 60640

Time Commitment:
Rehearsals will begin in mid-April and run to mid-May.

Daytime and/or Evening times depending on actor availability.

There will be 6 performances across 3 weekends in June.

Because of the nature of the Fall Tour, the show has to be able to travel easily, set up quickly, and perform without a typical "tech week" or rehearsals leading up to the show. The Summer Run will operate the same way, with rehearsals ending a few weeks before the show premieres.

This will also allow actors to explore other summer opportunities in the city, knowing that the only commitment after May will be the 6 performances over 3 weekends in June.

Material To Prepare:
One Shakespeare Monologue, not to exceed 90 seconds. You also may be asked to read a side from the play.
