PLAY SUMMARY: Maude has bought a painting for a few bucks from a thrift store. Despite almost trashing it, she's now convinced it's a lost masterpiece by Jackson Pollock worth millions. But when a world-class art expert arrives at her trailer home to authenticate the painting, he has no idea what is is about to discover about himself, art, culture, and humanity.
Maude: (late 40s-60) Lives in a mobile home in Bakersfield, CA. Unemployed bartender. Described as a "tough broad" by her ex-husband.
Lionel: (50s-60s) An art expert from NYC. Very full of himself, very cultured, very out of his element.
Strong ability to memorize lines a must!
PREPARATION: Please bring a prepared monologue from a published work. Comedic or dramatic is fine. Also, please be familiar with this scene from the play (https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/28ad86_1cf317d5d8c54f78a3b94fe847352291.pdf) as you may be asked to perform it, as well, during the first round of auditions.
