Director: Sophie Boyce. Esbi Films is a production team of 17-19 years olds. The company has been running for 8 years, making short films directed by Sophie Boyce. Many of these films have been screened in competitions and festivals in the UK.

'At The Mercy' is a short film about friendship and acceptance. Martin Hearn is the 11-year-old product of corrupt mental institutions and doctors more warped than their patients. When he returns home for the week, he falls into the naive arms of a new companion; 11-year-old Christian. With simple childlike naivety, Christian helps Martin to grow in a way nobody has before.

Audition is 16th May in Buckinghamshire.

Chris sees good in people when nobody else does, and looks at situations from a different perspective. He is also quiet a lonely boy; easily hurt and emotional. Different times and different situations, and he could be have been in the same position as Martin.

Martin: Slim/skinny figure. Pale. Medium/long length hair. Preferably a fringe, though not vital. * * * Martin is a young boy haunted by his inner demons. He has been in and out of mental institutions since childhood, and his parents are losing faith in him, preferring now to shut him away in his room. They?ve given up on him. Years of hurt and rejection has made Martin detached, wary, distrustful and sometimes violent. He goes days without eating, has been known to self-harm and have hallucinations. Most of the time he is unresponsive and watchful.
