CityParks SummerStage is accepting submissions for AMERICAN SCHEMES, three one-act plays by Radha Blank. Producer: Freedome Bradley. Director: Charlotte Brathwaite. Equity Showcase code. AMERICAN SCHEMES....is three stories that explore the enigma of the American Dream. Through laughter, tears and fears, AMERICAN SCHEMES follows people from different ethnic and economic backgrounds who all want the same thing; to 'make it' in America. But what does it mean to 'make it'? And what will it cost?
SEEKING THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERS:
ONE. BIG. HAPPY.
What would make the perfect child? Prospective parents Tracy and Daryl wonder who their little girl might be. But are they the perfect parents?
[DARYL]: Black man, 30's. Lawyer. Wears a suit but tows the line between the corporate world and the hood he was raised in. Cheerful, optimist but with a clear sense of reality.
FATOU & LUCY & THELMA & LOUISE
Welcome to MLK Blvd in Anywhere, USA where you can buy just about anything from DVD's to hair weaves. The saleswomen here are willing to negotiate the price of their products but not the costs of their dreams.
[LUCY]: Korean woman, 20's-30's. Rough around the edges, witty and exuberant. Funny, observant and nostalgic. Knowledge of Korean language a plus.
[ROSA]: Hispanic woman (Mexican, Central American), 30's-40's. Sweet in demeanor, soft in appearance. Quiet but with a strong stature. She's a peacekeeper, gives encouragement.

Hip Hop may appear to be a man's sport but it's any lady's game. Or is it? Two grown ass women emcees attempt to claim their spot in the industry and maintain their dignity...and sanity.
[ASSISTANT]: Woman, any race. 20's-30s. Super professional. Chipper. Loyal to her boss Clay. Is working her way up in the industry ladder. Does not rock boats..
[CLAY]: Black, Hispanic man, 30's, slick, shrewd businessman with charm. Svengali-ish...a P-Diddy type but smoothed out and verbose.
