Description:

Dead At The Scene are an up and coming Edinburgh-based metalcore band about to release their new CD, 'Sharktopus'. To coincide with the release they have commissioned rising student director Pete Harper to create a video for the opening track, 'Daae'.

A pure drama piece, the video is an updated telling of the Phantom of the Opera story, conceived and written by Pete. Taking cues from the original book rather than the watered down musical version, the video will be a haunting, jarring, off-kilter look at the secrets we all hide from the wider world and the fallout when these secrets are unleashed.

Pete Harper gave up a 13-year desk job to pursue his creative dreams. Brought up on classic 80s and 90s action movies - Die Hard, Robocop, Indiana Jones, Alien, Predator, From Dusk Til Dawn - Pete aims to match Dead At The Scene's brutal modern take on riffs-to-the-wall metal to memorable, 'less is more' imagery while telling a gut wrenching compelling tale of obsession, lust and fear.

**Shooting will take place during the week of the 24th May, finer details TBC. There will most likely be one day of filming and one, perhaps two nights of filming. Expenses will be covered or alternative arrangements made (ie lifts, food)**


Character breakdowns:

Eric - 'The Phantom'

Male, 30-45

A former conflict zone photographer, Eric has returned home to teach. A man of control, he harbours a dark, morbid secret.

Must be of at least average fitness as a chase scene across a field is required. Eric survives a bomb blast and will have to be made up accordingly. The character could also benefit from shirtless posturing, to be discussed.


Krys - 'The Student'

Female, 18-24

Krys is vulnerable, naive. She revels in Eric's faith in her - brilliant, talented Eric.

Krys carries the piece, it is her shock, terror and emotional outpourings that convey the story to the audience. She will be beaten and bound, possibly being partially stripped in the process, to be discussed.

Idealy, to fit with the image/genre of the band, Krys should have an 'alternative/metal' look to her. However no-one will be turned away or not concidered if they do not have this look.


Ryan - 'The Lover'

Male - 18-30

Ryan is Krys' boyfriend and completes the love triangle. Krys turns to him when she uncovers Eric's secret, bringing him into the path of Eric's vengance.

Ryan will be quite severally beaten and bound and therefore made up accordingly, possibly partially stripped in the process to be discussed.

Idealy, to fit with the image/genre of the band, Ryan should have an 'alternative/metal' look to him. However no-one will be turned away or not concidered if they do not have this look.
