Synopsis: A young Austinite girl meanders around the city and encounters interesting characters along the way. Throughout this journey she learns about different philosophies on life, universe, and everything that ultimately leads to her self-discovery.

Character Breakdowns:
– ALL ROLES ARE PAID.
– All roles have multiple speaking lines that are plot-essential.
– NO ETHNICITY HAS BEEN PREDETERMINED FOR ANY OF THESE ROLES. Our primary focus will be actor performance and performance only.

LUCY – Female Early 20’s. The titular character. Innocent and inexperienced in life. She wanders around Austin businesses meeting crazy characters and learning about life. Dance training encouraged. (You might be asked to bust a move during the audition!)

RICK – Male 20’s. Works at a video rental store. He finds LUCY fascinating and quickly becomes infatuated with her.

DIANE – Female 40’s to 50’s. LUCY’s mother. She’s too preoccupied by issues in her own life and does not have much time nor energy left for LUCY.

MOTHER – Female 50’s to 60’s. RICK’s mother. Conservative and vehemently against the concept of premarital sex. Confronts LUCY & RICK when she catches the two about to share an intimate moment together.

LEE – Male 40’s to 60’s. Owner of a local gun shop (type of shop subject to change). He’s a little bit crazy (but not clinically insane). Also firmly believes in “shoot first” & “might makes right”.

BILL – Male 40’s to 60’s. Owner of a smoke shop. Quintessential Austin hippie and zen master (think Timmy Chong from That 70’s Show, possibly with longer beard). He gives advice to Lucy about how to find happiness. MUST BE ABLE TO MEMORIZE PERFORM LONG MONOLOGUE.

HOMELESS PERSON – Male/Female 40’s to 80’s. Street-harden, mysterious, and very wise. THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL HOMELESS PERSON! Think Will Smith in Legend of Bagger Vance. Skills in sleight of hand/magic tricks HIGHLY encouraged.

MAN-IN-BLACK – Male 20’s – 40’s. Secret agent type that appears after an incident at LUCY’s house. No nonsense and professional. Think Tommy Lee Jones in Men In Black but younger (or Josh Brolin in Men In Black 3 if you will).

MANDY – Female 30’s. Well put-together although something just feels off with her. Another mysterious fig
