Synopsis: When Mariela, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, is diagnosed with kidney failure, her family scrambles to save her life. Dialysis treatments are costly, and without health insurance, her daughter Jenni and husband Leo resolve to smuggle her back into Mexico where they can afford the treatments for her chronic condition.

MARIELA HERRERA LÓPEZ (mid/late 30’s, Latina): Mariela, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico who has lived in the United States for over a decade confronts a life threatening health condition without insurance.
LEO HERRERA LÓPEZ(late 30’s, early 40’s, Latino): Leo, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, is a farmhand whose life is turned upside down by the sudden illness his wife.
IGNACIO (late 20’s, early 30’s, Latino): Ignacio is a family friend of the Herrera López, and smuggles Mariela into Mexico where she can receive more affordable treatments for her chronic health condition.
JENNI HERRERA LÓPEZ (Looks 12, Latina): Jenni, the daughter of Leo and Mariela, must behave beyond her years to help her parents and save her mother’s life. The audition date for Jenni is February 13th 12-5pm.
