Description:
The lead acting role in Rutgers University's One Act Festival written by local poet and playwright, S.W. Lynch. A Transgender woman who is an aerial silks acrobat in a traveling circus in 1980's America. The protagonist of the play, Tracy, is a strong female character who reveals her troubled past to her friend and fellow performer, Gina, throughout the course of the events. This is a character driven play and a realistic drama with some surreal elements. There will be fictional depictions of drinking, smoking, and drug use, and actors need to be comfortable with explicit content and language. We are especially interested in trans/androgynous actors/actresses, but we will also consider cissexual actors/actresses. Anyone who is considered for the part must be reliable (at least 3 evening rehearsals per week from January 5th until opening night on February 11th, 2015). All rehearsals will take place in the Fine Arts Department at the Camden campus of Rutgers University, which is one block away from the Camden City Hall PATCO speedline station. This is an opportunity to work under Paul Bernstein and Ken Elliott (Devil Boys From Beyond), both of whom are experienced in Off Broadway/West End productions. This is not a paid role, but if you are a college student you may be able to be eligible for transferable credits, and certainly if you are a student of Community Colleges or any Rutgers campus. We look forward to hearing from you --- (desired age span, early 20's to mid 30's).
