Description:

Fowl Play is seeking submissions for their upcoming piece "Bacchanal", a devised adaptation of Euripides' The Bacchae.

We are an artistic collective focused on creating authentic, intersectional work that incites change & promotes equity through the use of empathy, community, and RADICAL JOY! The Fowl Players seek to build a brave, accessible, welcoming space for queer, neurodivergent, and otherwise marginalized voices, to coalesce & strengthen one another.

We encourage people of all backgrounds, ages, races, gender identities, sexual orientations, ethnicities, and religions to audition! We are highly encouraging BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, non-binary, neurodivergent, and actors of all abilities to audition.

Seeking
DIONYSOS: nonbinary/genderqueer, any race, 20s-30s, God of wine, ecstasy, theatre, etc. Full of divine power & rage.

PENTHEUS: male, any race, 30s-40s, King of Thebes, a man of traditional values, stubborn.

TIRESEUS: any race, any gender, a blind seer, wise, friends with Kadmos.

KADMOS: male, any race, 60s-70s, the former King of Thebes, father of Agave, grandfather of Pentheus & Dionysos.

AGAVE: female, any race, 40s-50s, mother of Pentheus, daughter of Kadmos, possessed by Dionysos.

MAENADS: female & gender queer, any race, the Bacchae revellers, followers of Dionysos

ENSEMBLE: various Shepards, messengers, guards, etc. Actors of any ethnicity, gender, and age.

Auditions will be held from 6:30pm - 8:30pm on December 16th & 18th at The Edge Theatre, 1133 W. Catalpa ave., Chicago.

Compensation:
Actors will be given a $50 stipend and a portion of ticket sales. We are currently developing our company and fundraising, and will be distributing funds as a profit share.
