Essential Invisible is seeking a diverse cast for a one-night-only, queer musical theatre cabaret! Let's take a night to celebrate and dissect the characters and songs that aren't usually seen through a queer lens.

Without changing the text itself (pronouns, description, action, etc), how does an identity change the way an audience engages with a character? What does it mean for Cabaret's Emcee to be played by a woman? For Jack Kelly to be queer? For Audrey or Seymour to be played by trans actors? Identities hold significance, and with a backlog of many cis, often straight or straight-assumed characters, there is value in exploring and changing the narrative. Whether it be for a nuanced dramatic effect or a comedic one, we want to see musical theater gender-fuckery (and beyond) at play!
