Description:
A Short Leap Theatre Co. is seeking actors for their upcoming production of Clearing by Beth Hyland, performed at the Portage Arts Lofts.
Directed by Nathan Dale Short, Assistant Direction by Olivia Tennison.
Auditions will take place on September 19th at 7:00 PM at the Artist in Residence, 6165 N Winthrop Ave.
Virtual Auditions are being accepted through 11:59PM on September 19th, 2024.
Invited Callbacks will take place in person on September 24th at 7:00 PM Attendance at callbacks is required for consideration.
Synopsis: When Jess gets a job at LaLaLea, the upscale yoga pants store and lifestyle brand, she feels like she's finally found her way. But when sudden violence strikes a nearby store, Jess and her co-workers learn that even positive energy has a dark side. Clearing is a dark coming-of-age comedy about friendship, yoga pants, and the pressure women are under-and what happens when that pressure makes them snap.
Pay: $1000 stipend, at conclusion of the run.

CLARE, (27, F, white) - The Manager of Jess's store. Never had an awkward phase. (THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST. SEEKING UNDERSTUDY.)
CARLY, (25, F, POC) - A Key Holder at Jess's store. Has more guy friends than girl friends. (ALSO SEEKING UNDERSTUDY)
BECCA, (25, F, white) - An Educator at Jess's store. The friend you always forget to BCC on party invitations. (THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST. SEEKING UNDERSTUDY.)

Rehearsals will take place in the evening during the week, endeavoring to follow a Mon-Thursday schedule. This schedule will be made available to you as soon as possible.
Performances will follow a Thurs-Fri-Sat-SatMat-SunMat schedule.
All performances will take place at the Portage Arts Lofts, 4041 N Milwaukee Ave
Please prepare a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue. Be prepared to have a brief conversation with the artistic team. Auditioners may be asked to read from the script.
