Description:

Actors are needed for Bard in the Burbs' upcoming production of The Head That Wears a Crown, an original adaptation of Shakespeare's Henry IV, Parts 1 & 2 directed by Sean Ogren, fight directed by Andrew Trygstad, and stage managed by Michelle Ho and Franklin Williams.

Auditions are set for Sunday, August 4th @ 6:00pm and Monday, August 5th @ 8:30pm at:

Callbacks, as needed, will be held on Tuesday, August 6th @ 7:30pm.

Due to limited spacing there are no individual audition slots. Auditions and callbacks will begin at their start times for all actors and consist of scenes from the play. Sides and an official audition form will be emailed starting one week prior to auditions.

Characters
Prince Hal (aka Henry or Harry)
20s thru 30s
The quick-witted Crown Prince of Wales and son to King Henry IV, spends more time at the Boar's Head Tavern with Falstaff and friends than he does attending to his royal duties. He looks to Falstaff as a mentor to Living with a capital 'L'. This has led to a strained relationship with his father and to the crown, but his regal qualities slowly emerge as the story progresses. Stage combat experience welcomed

King Henry IV
40s thru 70s
Regal and intelligent center of power, father of Prince Hal and Prince John. Vexed by the antics of his eldest son while fighting to hold his country together in a civil war, he has been worn down prematurely by worries.

Prince John
16 thru 30s
Brave and intelligent, he often demonstrates the leadership lacking in his older brother Hal.

Pistol
any age
Criminal, highwayman, friend of Falstaff and Prince Hal.

Bardolph
any age
Criminal, highwayman, friend of Falstaff and Prince Hal

Doll Tearsheet
20s thru 50s
A woman of the tavern, close to Falstaff, also a friend of Prince Hal.

Nym
any age
A servant at the Boar's Head Tavern

Earl of Westmerland
30s thru 70s
A military leader as well as both a loyal companion and valuable advisor to the King

Harry Percy (aka Hotspur, Henry or Percy) / Taverner
20s thru 30s
Fierce fighter and hot-headed archrival of Hal. Stage combat experience welcomed.

Earl of Dowglas / Taverner
30s thru 60s
Harry Percy's uncle, deadly and fierce leader of the large Scottish army at war against the King. Stage combat experience welcomed.

Chorus
any age
Functions as a narrator, often commenting on the play's plots and themes as well joining in on the playing. A dynamic storyteller.

Please note that the roles of Falstaff, Quickly and Poins have been pre-cast.

Time Commitment:

Performances for The Head That Wears a Crown will take place from Friday September 27th thru Sunday October 6th:
Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00 p.m.
Sundays at 7:00 p.m.

Rehearsals will begin on Sunday, August 11th and will be held Sunday thru Thursday evenings.
