Description:
Parker Players Theater Company announces auditions for Orphans by Lyle Kessler and directed by Richard Dominick.
Synopsis: Two brothers, Phillip, sensitive, reclusive, never venturing out of his North Philly home and Treat, a violent pickpocket and thief who kidnaps a mysteriously wealthy businessman who turn the table on the two brothers and in strange, hilarious and moving way, becomes their long lost father figure.
Please note that the role of Harold is cast. Auditions are for Phillip and Treat.
Phillip - early to mid 20's, slight build, child-like, is highly knowledgeable about some subjects but knows little about anything else. Longs for "encouragement".
Treat - late 20's. Tough guy though may be a wannabe tough guy. Quick tempered. Violent. Fear of intimacy. Prefers isolation to human interaction. Arrogant.
All auditions, rehearsals and performances will take place at 540 W Northwest Highway, Barrington, IL.
Auditions: August 4 (5:00pm - 6:30pm) & August 5 (6:30 - 8:00pm)
Stipend: $400
Rehearsals begin Tuesday September 3, 2024
Rehearsals will be 3-4 days a week taking place on weekday evenings and some weekend afternoons. Rehearsal will be based on actor and production team schedules and availability.
Tech Week (no conflicts permitted): October 20 - 24
9 Performances:
October 25, 26, November 1, 2, 8, 9 @ 7:30pm
October 27, November 3, 10 @ 2:00pm
No Materials to Prepare: Audition will consist of conversation and discussion of script. Possible script reading.
