Description:
Open Space Arts is holding auditions for the Chicago premiere of Light Switch by Dave Osmundsen, directed by Michael D. Graham.
Light Switch follows the story of Henry, an autistic gay man with a passion for 19th century British literature, and his quest for love and acceptance in a 21st century world.
Characters:
HENRY* - gay male, autistic, 28 (as young as 8 in flashbacks) (any race/ethnicity)
ROGGIE - Henry's roommate, gay male, 21 - 28 (any race/ethnicity)
JOSEPH - a potential romantic partner, gay male, 29 (any race/ethnicity)
OTHER GUY TRACK (Adult Actor) - Three characters: AARON (11) a boy Henry used to play with; KEN (20) a student, gay male; ANOTHER GUY (23) gay male (any race/ethnicity)
* We are interested in casting an autistic or neurodivergent person in the role of Henry.
PLEASE NOTE: All roles will require some physical intimacy, including touching and kissing. We will have an intimacy designer to work with the actors and director to develop these moments. There is no full nudity in the play; however, Roggie appears only in his underwear during one scene, and other actors may appear shirtless.
ALSO NOTE: The role of Marian (Henry's mother) has been precast.
PAY: Actors will receive a $200 stipend for the entire process plus additional pay if there is an extension past the original closing date.
