Imagination Theater is excited to accept submissions for artists to join our ensemble for our 2024/2025 Season!

We are actively seeking Ensemble Members who are able to perform and improvise in Spanish.

Successful IT Ensemble members have: (1) flexible daytime availability, (2) performance and/or teaching artist background, and (3) an interest in engaging audiences (particularly young people) in participatory programming.

WHO IS IMAGINATION THEATER?
Imagination Theater's (IT) professional ensemble is a core team of actors and teaching artists who tour dynamic programming to schools & other communities. IT's distinct style is based on techniques from Theatre of the Oppressed (also known as Forum Theater).

The ensemble portrays a series of scenes. When each scene reaches a point of conflict, the show's facilitator freezes the action and leads the audience in a discussion about what they saw and what they could do differently in the same situation. We then invite an audience member on stage to replay the scene and navigate our actors toward a more positive conclusion. Under the auspices of a social issues role-play, participants become "spect-actors" performing and expressing themselves creatively. By exploring within the safe space of the theater, communities become empowered through the arts.

RATE
Ensemble members are hired as part-time W2 employees with Imagination Theater. Ensemble members are paid $35.00 per performance (typically 2 or 3 hour-long performances per show day) and $16.00 an hour for all rehearsals, meetings, travel time, or any work that is performed outside of shows. Time commitment is part-time hours, generally during the morning/afternoon, Mondays through Fridays. Rehearsals will start in August during the weekdays.

AUDITIONS
Auditions will be held in person at our office space inside Edgewater Presbyterian Church (1020 W. Bryn Mawr) on June 13th and 14th. Auditions will consist of cold reads from current Imagination Theater shows and a brief interview.
