Wheaton Drama Inc. invites you to audition for Mel Brooks' musical Young Frankenstein, based on the comedy classic movie of the same name.
It's Alive! (And it's Hilarious!) From the creators of the record-breaking Broadway sensation The Producers comes the monstrously mad musical, Young Frankenstein! A wickedly inspired re- imagining of the Frankenstein legend based on Mel Brooks' classic 1974 comedy film masterpiece, the story follows bright young Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") as he attempts to complete his grandfather's masterwork and bring a corpse to life. Urged on by a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced "Eye-gore"), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself fulfilling his grandfather's corpse-raising legacy. This musical comedy hit is not without scary and hilarious complications. The show includes such memorable tunes as "The Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and the famous "Puttin' On The Ritz." This electrifying musical stage adaptation of Mel Brooks' brilliantly funny film will leave you in stitches!
Auditions will be held at Playhouse 111, located at 111 N. Hale St, Wheaton, IL 60187
Performers high school-aged and up are welcome to audition. Unless strictly and specifically mandated from the playwright, all roles are open and available to anyone regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, or body type.

- Brilliant brain surgeon, professor and grandson of mad scientist Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein.

- Ensemble will include character actors of varying ages plus a core group of dancer/singers - tap experience preferred.
Key Dates
- Cast Read Through: Monday, April 1st at 7pm at the theatre
- Rehearsals: Sunday-Thursday Evenings
- Tech Week: May 12th - 16th, 2024
- Show Run: May 17th through June 9 th , with performances Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Sundays at 2:00pm.
-Sing 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song of your choice in the style of the show. You must sing with our provided accompanist or with a device you provide. No a cappella auditions will be allowed.
- Be prepared to fill out a conflict sheet at auditions (be as specific as possible about conflicts throughout the rehearsal period). - No dance will be done at the initial auditions.
