Redtwist Theatre is auditioning for the second show in our 2023-2024 Season of Pride, The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer.

During the early 1980s, Jewish-American writer and gay activist Ned Weeks struggles to pull together an organization focused on raising awareness about the fact that an unidentified disease is killing off a specific group of people: gay men, largely in New York City.

Directed by Redtwist ensemble member Ted Heorl. All roles open for consideration.

Ned Weeks: Male Presenting. 25 - 45, Jewish. Well known queer writer, emotionally volatile, must have chemistry with Felix.

Dr. Emma Brookner: Female Presenting. 35+. This character is wheelchair bound due to childhood illness; Redtwist is seeking a wheelchair using actor for the role.

Ben Weeks: Male Presenting. 30 - 50, Jewish. Ned Weeks' brother, high profile NYC lawyer, married.

Felix Turner: Male Presenting. 25 - 45. Ned Weeks partner, New York Times journalist, masculine, must have chemistry with Felix.

Bruce Niles: Male Presenting. 30 - 50.

Tommy Boatwright: Male Presenting. 35 - 65.

Mickey Marcus: Male Presenting. 18 - 35.

Craig Doner/Grady/Orderly: Plays a variety of characters throughout the play. Versatile actor required.

David/Hiram/Examining Doctor/Orderly: Plays a variety of characters throughout the play. Versatile actor required.

Pay Rate: $350 Stipend
