Strawdog Theatre Company is casting for our upcoming production of THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, written by Oscar Wilde, directed by Elizabeth Swanson. This production will be a queer retelling of this classic play with a focus on exploring class, privilege, and queer joy. Actors will have the opportunity during the creative process to develop their character, and help shape the world of the play. Seeking non-AEA actors of all backgrounds for principal and understudy positions, and strongly encourage performers of all ethnicities, ages, sizes, genders, and abilities to submit. Please submit for any role you feel most drawn to auditioning for!

Pay rate: $750 for principal actors and $750 for the understudies.

Dr. Chasuble - 40's+. Any gender, any ethnicity. Nervous, serious, and tender-hearted. PRINCIPAL AND UNDERSTUDY

Algernon Moncrieff - 20's-30's. Any ethnicity. Androgynous or masc, quick-witted. UNDERSTUDY ONLY

Gwendolyn Fairfax - 20's-30's. Any ethnicity. Femme, snobby, privileged. UNDERSTUDY ONLY

Miss Prism - 40's+. Any ethnicity. Femme, prissy, high moral character. UNDERSTUDY ONLY

Merriman/Lane - Any age. Any ethnicity. The Butler. Side-eyeing all of the shenanigans. Strong clowning skills required. UNDERSTUDY ONLY
