Description:

MPAACT is auditioning for Chicago-based Actors.
MPAACT announces auditions for its upcoming Spring production, Warm on the Coolin' Board, written by Shepsu Aakhu and directed by Lauren "LL" Lundy.

AUDITION and PRODUCTION INFO Audition Date: Saturday, January 6, 2024
Audition Time: 11 AM - 2 PM
Audition Location: The Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N Lincoln Ave.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
Day (David) - Black man, early 40's
Brian - 19 year old black youth
Carter - Black man, 40's
Nailah - Black woman of undetermined age. She is a seer of the ifa oracle
2 Vocalists/Helpers - Black men or women of undetermined age.

Show Description:
Everybody has a plan, and Day is no exception. He has a plan for his baby brother Brian. Trouble is - Brian is off plan. He's taking a break from college and picking up the family business, stripping the Roseland community to the bone. This decaying community is being pillaged by its own inhabitants, its politicians, and its few remaining businesses. As Day and Brian work to find their place in a community that is literally being picked clean, they struggle to come to grips with whether they are hastening the process, or part of the restoration.

Pay: $600 Stipend

Time Commitment:

Rehearsals: March 6 - April 27 with a Tuesday - Saturday schedule.
Tech weekend: April 13-14
First Preview: April 19
Opening: April 28
Closing: June 2

Material To Prepare:

Chicago Actors should prepare a maximum, two minute contemporary monologue and 16 bars of your choice of song.
