Backstory:
Elinor Dashwood, her sister Marianne, and their mother are forced out of their home when the property passes to their half-brother and their sister-in-law, Fanny. Before they leave, Elinor falls in love with Edward Ferrars, Fanny’s brother. Living in the country, Elinor learns that Edward has been engaged to someone else for four years now. She learned it from the fiancee herself and has sworn to keep it a secret. Meanwhile, Marianne has fallen in love with John Willoughby, but Willoughby mysteriously returns to London when she thought that he was going to propose. The sisters go to London and Marianne sends letters to Willoughby but she receives no reply. When she spots him at party, he acts confused at her affection and politely leaves. Now, a letter has come for Marianne at last.
