We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic and talented actors and crews of the community to volunteer as performers and backstage crew in the EmPower Uth Company's first production,
“The Tree of Freedom” by Mohsen Ghaffari.
This special play explores the Freedom Expression crisis inspired by the death of an artist in 2009 into a prison in Iran. We want you to audition to be a part of this ambitious new production. No previous experience is necessary and auditions are open to anyone aged 18 to 60.
Over the last two years, we have done so many researches in order to make a show that can bring the message of that artist which is Freedom of expression for anybody in the world.
We aim to say that torture has no space in this world any more. We want everyone free to talk about any ideas they have, without any fear that someone or a system will torture them because of what they said.
And as “Charlie Chaplin” once in The Great Dictator said: The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.
Rehearsals will start from late February or early March and will be in the week evenings x 1-2 Evenings There are also lots of roles you can take on backstage. To apply for a backstage role please contact firstname.lastname@example.org .
What DO you need to prepare? Please bring a photo and write your name on the back/front of it. Please note: we need clear photos of your face, very natural, no costumes, glasses, hats etc.
Please turn up on the day full of energy, we will give you a script to read, then we will brief and sign you in and get you to do a couple of things and quick informal chat.
