Calling all actors! Theatre 121 announces auditions for Irving Berlin's White Christmas.

Auditions and callbacks will be held at the Woodstock Opera House (121 W Van Buren St, Woodstock, IL 60098) and are Sunday, August 27 from 5:00-9:00 pm and Monday, August 28 from 6:30pm-9:30pm. Callbacks are invitation only and will be held Tuesday, August 29 from 6:30pm-9:30pm. Sign up below for your time slot. Director Roger Zawacki, vocal director Alayna DeVar, choreographer Becca Dinkheller and assistant director Elaine Cashmore will be casting 10-11 male identifying actors, 9-10 female identifying actors and 1 young girl.

At auditions, you will sing, act and dance. Prepare 32 bars of an upbeat song that is not from the show White Christmas. (Note that you may be cut off after one minute.) Bring your sheet music for our accompanist. You will do a very short reading and you will learn a dance from our choreographer. Wear comfortable clothes for dancing. For the callbacks, if you are called back for a role involving dancing, a tap number will be taught. Bring tap shoes if you own them. All auditions must be in person.

Characters in White Christmas:

Bob Wallace - late 20s to mid 30s, a superb singer with a crooning style who moves well.

Phil Davis - late 20s to mid 30s, strong jazz and tap-dancing needed, a song and dance comic performer.

Betty Haynes - 20s to mid 30s, a female singer of quiet beauty and charm. Must move well

Judy Haynes - 20s to mid 30s, strong jazz and tap-dancing needed, a major song and dance performer

General Waverly - 50s to mid 60s, a non-singing role except for one line, owns the Columbia Inn

Martha Watson - 40s to mid 50s, a winning appealing character comedienne, must sing well

Susan Waverly - 9, (can be 9 - 13) the general's granddaughter, must have an excellent belt voice and be able to move well.

Ralph Sheldrake - 40s - 50s, an army buddy of Bob and Phil, Works for the Ed Sullivan Show, also sings in the ensemble.

Rita and Rhoda - 20s to 30s, Bob and Phil's star chorus showgirls, Brash sexy and fun, sing and dance in the ensemble

Ezekiel Foster - 30s or 40s, Caretaker at the inn, a laid back New Englander, a man of few words, will double in the ensemble

Mike - mid 20s - 30s, Bob and Phil's stage manager, will sing and dance in the ensemble

Tessie - late 20s to 30s, Bob and Phil's secretary who also plays the head seamstress, sings and dances in the ensemble

Snoring Man - any age, sings on the train, sings and dances in the ensemble

Mrs. Snoring Man - any age, sings on the train, and dances in the ensemble

five to seven additional ensemble members who must sing and dance well

Sign up for a one-hour slot on either August 27 or 28. Callbacks will be on Tuesday, August 29. Actors who are needed at callbacks will be notified by email. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your audition time in order to complete the audition form. Optional - print and complete audition form ahead of time here. When arriving at the Opera House for auditions, use the front door of the Opera House and proceed to the library.

Time Commitment:

Rehearsals will run Sundays from 6 pm to 9 pm and Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7-10 pm with the first rehearsal table read on August 31, 2023.

Tech Week (two weeks): November 5th - November 16th (must be available all tech days and all performances to be considered for casting)

Friday, November 24th: 8:00 pm (time change due to lighting of the Woodstock Square)

Sunday, November 26th: 4:00 pm (time change due to Woodstock Christmas Parade)
Thursday, November 30th: TBD (potential matinee show for schools)
Friday, December 1st: 7:30 pm
Saturday, December 2nd: 2:00 pm & 7:30 pm
Sunday, December 3rd: 2:00 pm
