Magical realism collides with manic vaudeville in a family drama unlike any you've ever seen. Twin fetuses swap philosophy while awaiting their birth, a daughter eats dirt and doesn't speak, a father is about to drive away and never return, and there's an apple tree growing through the wall of the house. Whipping from astonishing tenderness to profound humor and back again, Smokefall explores the lives of a family in a lyrical treatise on the fragility of life and the power of love.
Roles:
Two female identifying, 16 - 40; two male identifying, 20 - 40; one male identifying, 55 - 80
Each of the males will be double or triple cast, as the script specifies.
Audition and performance location:
Footlik Theater (Parking Lot A entrance), Oakton College, Des Plaines Campus
Performance dates:
September 21 - October 1, 2023
Please prepare a contemporary monologue (1-2 minutes in length) and be prepared to read from the script. Monologues need not be memorized.
