SMC (Shakespeare's Motley Crew) is requesting audition submissions for our 11th year of Midsummer Mayhem.
MM is a short series of Shakespeare scenes highlighting a central theme (this year: "Toys"). MM is an ensemble piece with lots of fights, music and movement. As we aren't restricted by full scripts, we're pretty unconventional in our casting. We assign parts after first read.
Performances are Saturday and Sundays from July 29 to August 27 in both Independence and Winnemac Parks. Additionally, we will have 3 daytime performances in schools September and October. Rehearsals begin in mid-June. MM will be directed by William Sidney Parker.
We are seeking all ages and types. We are also seeking an actor interested in being a Master of Ceremonies to open and close the performance. SMC offers a stipend.
Auditions are virtual. Please submit one Shakespeare monologue of your choice. Also, please tell us something about one of your favorite toys. Or a favorite cereal. (nothing formal, just a couple top of mind thoughts...).
