Description:
Moonlight Cabaret: Turning Points is a cabaret featuring songs from various musicals that tell the stories of characters who face a crossroads or experience a catalyst that changes the course of their life.
Performances on July 15 and 22 at 3:00 and 7:00 pm (four shows total) at The Venue in Aurora, Illinois.
Director: Kirsten Currie Tait.
Choreographer: Ann Marie Decker.
Staging Director: Michael Currie.
Vocal coaching and additional music direction: Colleen Bruton, Grace Currie, Liz Hutchinson, Andrew Toniolo
Auditions will take place on Tuesday, March 7 from 7:00-9:00 pm or by appointment. Video submissions will be accepted until Sunday, March 12 at 11:59pm. You should pick whichever option you are most comfortable with.
Auditions will be held at Two Brothers Roundhouse Stout Room: 205 N Broadway, Aurora, Illinois 60506.
We encourage performers of all races and ages (17+) to audition. We are looking to cast 12-20 performers.
We offer a $100 stipend or 25% of tickets referred by the performer, whichever is the greater amount.
The rehearsal period of the show is April 17 - July 22 with performances on July 15 and 22 at 3:00 and 7:00 pm (four shows total) at The Venue in Aurora, Illinois. Rehearsals may occur Monday-Thursday 5:00-9:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, and Sunday 1:00-4:00 pm in Aurora, Illinois. You will likely not be called for the entire rehearsal block. Plan for approximately 10-15 rehearsals within those dates; Please let us know your conflicts during that period. We will provide a master schedule within two weeks of casting.
Material to prepare (video auditions):
Fill out the audition form.
Please pick two contrasting songs from our preselected 16-bar cuts. *
Prepare using the practice tracks in the audition resources. You do not have to sing exactly as the practice track performer does. Please be yourself and be creative!
Record yourself. Begin your recording with a slate-tell us your name, height, and location.
Sing your two selections using the backing tracks provided in the audition resources.
Upload the video to YouTube and make the visibility "unlisted." If you're having technical issues, please write to us at cityoflightstheatre@gmail.com for an alternative method.
Email the video link to cityoflightstheatre@gmail.com by Sunday, March 12 at 11:59 pm with the subject line "Moonlight Cabaret Audition"

Sing the two selections at in-person auditions on Tuesday, March 7 at 7:00-9:00 pm. No need to provide sheet music for the accompanist. **
*Even though you are auditioning on two songs, you will still be considered for the whole setlist. Please choose two songs you feel suit you best.
**In-person auditions may be recorded on video.
