Description:
Surging Films & Theatrics is pleased to announce our 2023 summer shows at The Edge Theater! Our first production will be the musical Catch Me If You Can on the main stage at Edge from July 8th - July 23rd. Our second show will be the musical comedy The Wedding Singer in the Edge black box from Aug 18th - Sept 3rd. Both shows are popular late 90s/early 00s movies turned into catchy, flashy, dancy musicals! Both productions are Jeff Eligible and our last musical, Urinetown, is a 2023 Jeff Award Nominee.
Rehearsals will be at The Edge Theater starting in May for CMIYC and June for Wedding Singer. Please review the rehearsal and production calendar on our website. This will also be e-mailed, if selected to audition.
Auditions will be April 1st at The Edge Theater from 11am-7pm.
As this is a dance heavy season, we will need everyone to participate in both the dance call and the vocal audition. Select candidates may be asked to cold read.
Time slots will be roughly every 2 hours. Please be prepared to stay for the full 2-hour time slot as we will do the dance call at the beginning of each time slot and then move on to vocal auditions.
*Please note: this year we will only be able to accept video submissions from performers we have worked with before.*
There are roughly 30 roles available between these two productions.
Performer stipends for the musicals are $350
*Please note that casting is show-specific, and we are committed to providing opportunities to new performers; therefore, being a company performer of SF&T does not guarantee casting in any particular show in our upcoming seasons*
Actors of all ethnicities, gender identities, diverse abilities, and body types are welcome and encouraged to audition for any character. The character descriptions included below describe how the character was originally written but not necessarily how they will be cast.
