Chicago-based Playwright and Actor Toma Lynn Smith is accepting application materials from local BIPOC and non-BIPOC actors, and theatre production crew, such as Director and Stage Manager to put on the non-equity independent theatre production of the Social Justice 10-Minute Play Festival, The While Series...
A binge-watch of unique 11 short plays on stage featuring social issue-based diverse stories across U.S. History.
This show has themes that are ageist, classist, heteronormative, racist, sexist, stereotypical, and violent (including a sexual assault attempt, murder, and projected images of guns and sharp objects), and includes the topic of abortion. Only actors comfortable playing multiple roles in various heightened scenarios should submit.
ACTORS
Accepting video submissions with Headshot/Resume from local BIPOC and non-BIPOC non-union actors who meet the following criteria:
Located in Chicago or surrounding suburbs
Must be vaccinated: Provide Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations (minimum: first two doses)
Willing to wear a mask, if asked to.
Seeking actors for multiple roles to play up to 3 characters in three short plays. Actors must be over the age of 18:
African American, Female-identifying

PRODUCTION STAFF

Located in Chicago or surrounding suburbs

Lighting Designer
Sound Designer
Talent of all ethnicities, sexual orientations, abilities, body-type, and gender identities are encouraged to submit for any roles to which they identify.

Workshop (includes two Staged Readings)
Rehearsals begin in early January 2023 and end in late February 2023.*
*Exact workshop and rehearsal dates/times and the script will be shared with the actors and production staff the team is interested in. All times will be evenings and/or weekends.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 7:30 p.m.
Sunday 3 p.m.
Workshop, rehearsals, staged readings, and performances will take place in the City of Chicago in the Wicker Park neighborhood.
Please do not submit if you are unavailable for any performance dates or tech week beginning Monday, February 27, 2023, and if you are not currently vaccinated for COVID-19.
